Once you have registered a 10DLC campaign via the Corvum web portal, our system automatically sends the customized 'Opt in' message you specified to every phone number that communicates with you.
Why do we do this? While the 10DLC process is somewhat bureaucratic, it is important that the regulations be followed. You can face significant fines if someone files a complaint against you.
This is an extra service that we added, to automatically handle 10DLC opt-in compliance for you.
- We automatically send the opt-in message the first time (and only the first time) you text with a number - either inbound or outbound.
- We can customize this message to what you might prefer, though the required compliance content must remain. The system already uses whatever you provided in your registration.
- If someone replies with HELP, your support information is automatically provided.
- If anyone replies with STOP, they are automatically provided the STOP message, and are placed in a block list.
- We go beyond the compliance system requirement here, and do not allow a STOP contact to message you any further.
- Anyone that has requested STOP can resume simply by texting RESUME.
- Our system manages these taskss for you, automatically.
- You can see these automated messages, and the log / clio posting acts as documentation that the correct protocol has been followed.
This means you are automatically covered and nobody can make a valid complaint against you. Messaging someone after they have sent STOP, for example, could cause a serious fine (as much as $10,000) to be levied against you by the mobile provider network.
Corvum protects you by going further than required
The 'double-direction block' when someone sends STOP is not required by the regulations - you must only stop messaging anyone that has requested this - but as written, the regulations actually allow these contacts to continue messaging you.
We believe this is an oversight. Particularly within the legal industry, giving the ability for a contact that has 'gone toxic' to message you in one direction only could allow for ongoing harassing behaviour, sapping your team's time and impacting their morale and mental health - or yours.
