The Corvum team is keenly aware that a number of attorneys are self-employed, with their practice being classed as a 'sole proprietorship'.
With the relatively new '10DLC' texting regulations, most service providers no longer allow you to register with them unless you have an EIN. If you are operating as a sole proprietorship, none of the 'major' carriers or service providers will support you after December 1st, 2024. The best that we've seen from many providers is that they will 'figure it out and let you know'.
Corvum has already figured it out for you, and we fully support this use case on our network. Why is nobody else doing this?
- extra steps required during the setup process, that you have to develop for;
- separate and different restrictions from all other use cases;
- ongoing and unique reporting requirements;
- nearly all primary SMS carrier networks (which all service providers like ourselves use) do not support this.
In the end: extra effort, extra costs, more complexity, and for a type of customer that is, by nature, low revenue.
The Corvum team has spent significant extra time figuring this all out, and will continue to support you. We do like to think we understand what you're looking for, and this is another example of how we just pay more attention to the details.
If you aren't looking forward to going back to using your cellphone number to text your clients - please contact us: https://corvum.io/sign-up/
We also offer a deep, thoughtful Clio integration, that actually does what it should (and no more than that)!
